2-0

We played D-12 last night and really had our work cut out for us. One of our best players, Shea, broke his leg over the weekend and is out the entire season. We were able to get a replacement but Shea will be missed at third!

I think the whole team works for the Rangers ground crew and they are all very athletic. We had been anticipating this game and really wanted to win. We started out strong and they kept the game very close. Then in the 7th inning we just rallied ourselves to a 12-5 victory! We were so happy as this was a big game against one of the better teams in the league. I love the way our team works together and never gets down on each other or gives up. We work really hard every game and I'm so excited that we are still undefeated! Shea and Lauren, you were missed!

*Highlight of the night* Jon had TWO in the park homeruns. He kicked the ball so far over the outfielders' heads that they had to run to the fence to get it. One time up Heather was the only one on base and they both scored! It was so cute because as soon as they got to the dugout they kissed because they were so proud of each other. It was super sweet :)

Introducing Chase Starkey

Slone has another baby brother! He was born Monday, July 18 and is just a little doll. We just booked Slone a flight to go see him and spend time with his dad. He won't be going until October so I hope that he can wait that long! I get emotional thinking about the time that he gets to go spend with them. There was much time lost over the years and I'm so thankful that the Lord has restored their relationship and now he has a sweet step-mom and two adorable brothers that I know will look up to him. I would love to go with him but vacation time didn't work out for me this time around and I think that there are just times that he and his dad need to just be together and do father and son stuff. I believe they are going hunting so that will be a fun experience for Slone!

Earthquakes in Texas?

Maybe this is common. It is unknown to me. Saturday there was a bit of a rumble at our house. Slone and I had fallen asleep in the living room and about 2 am woke up and moved to our room. It was about that time that we felt it and questioned what it was. We didn't think too much of it because nothing fell or anything like that. I haven't thought anything of it since, but it must have really been bugging Slone because he mentioned it to some co-workers this morning and that's when we found out it was an earthquake! I searched the internet for an article on it and was able to find something from The Star Telegram. Here is a photo of where Slone and I live in comparison with where the earthquake hit.

I'm glad it was minor and no one was hurt! Here is the article:

Yep, we're at it again

Another season of kickball is officially underway. And, yes, some might say we have probably lost a little bit of our minds playing in 100+ degree weather. However, last night our game was at 8:30 and wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. It was a bit chaotic because three of our players weren't there for the entire game but we are a strong team and pulled off our first win of this season, 5-0. We watched some other teams too and it looks like it's going to be a competitive season!

Summer swimming

July 4th was the first day this summer that Slone and I have been able to swim. Grandfather had us all over for grilling. Ty and his two sweet kids were there, too!

Surfin' in the USA!

Slone played "shark" with the kiddos. He is always so sweet with them :)

They would all swim to the steps as fast as their little arms would let them, screaming the whole way!

4th of July Weekend

Saturday was a relaxing day at the Starkey household. It was super hot outside so we lounged around for most of the day and then grilled out. A few weeks ago, Slone's dad sent us a ton of meat! It included chicken, steaks, hamburgers, and hotdogs! Saturday night Slone grilled barbecue chicken and filet mignon. I kid you not, we were able to cut it with a fork! He has become quite the grill master and I love to see him take pride in it. That night I baked a cake for the 4th that turned out quite well!

Sunday we went to see Cars 2 with Grandmother, Stacy, and Kaegan. Slone and I are suckers for kids' movies and this one didn't let us down. :)

We also volunteered at Light Up Arlington and watched fireworks in front of city hall.
