Suzy Q's

We were really craving hamburgers Friday night for dinner and found Suzy Q's down the street. We love finding new places to eat in our neighborhood!

Winter Walk 2011

Thanks, Jill! ;)

Well, for us it was the Winter Bike 2011. This was held one week before the big snow storm when it was about 60 degrees out. We joined the rest of the community at Katherine Rose Park and watched kids play football and some of the choir groups from local schools perform. It was a gorgeous day and we are definitely ready for the Spring!

Word for the Day

I woke up around 5 this morning and couldn't really go back to sleep. Usually, I have no trouble with this at all, but my mind was cluttered with what the weather had done overnight and what the temperature had dropped to. I knew we had to get up and let the faucets drip once I checked this information on my phone! I started getting ready for work at least until someone called to let me know that we would be closed because of the sleet and snow that was expected all day. Once I got the call, I had already showered and was getting ready so I couldn't just climb back in the bed and go to sleep. When things like this happen (interruption of sleep!) I know that the Lord is calling on me. Well, let me rephrase that because honestly He's always calling on me. What I mean is that some mornings when I can't sleep I know there is something He is trying to tell me so I open up His Word and start reading whatever page I flip to (unless I clearly feel a certain verse on my heart).

I recently joined a 5 o'clock book club. The idea is to get up at the same time every morning (doesn't necessarily have to be 5 o'clock) and have quiet time with the Lord. I read an old post from the site that I signed up on and came across this:

"If in true poverty of spirit we go every morning to our Lord, as knowing not how to guide ourselves for this day; our eye constantly looking upward for direction, the light will come down. He shall direct thy paths...Let the will be kept in a quiet, subdued, cheerful, readiness, to move, stay, retreat, turn to the right hand or to the left, at the Lord's bidding; always remembering that is best which is least our own doing, and that a pliable spirit ever secures the needful guidance...No step well prayed over will bring ultimate regret."

What a great promise that our needful guidance is secured!

Snow days for the big kids!

What crazy weather we've had this week! Last weekend it was 60 degrees and we were riding bikes in the park. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of this week we were snowed in! Thursday night we got hit with around 5 inches of snow. I was thrilled because I love the snow and it always reminds me of Tennessee. We've learned a lot about how to care for our house in the winter as well!

First snow at our first house

I call this our "Tennessee" backyard and I absolutely love it

On our way back from braving the weather for lunch, we found this little guy running down Main Street. We let him jump in the car and went looking for his home. After no success, we took him back to the house and posted a notice on the Mansfield Animal Control site that we had found him. About an hour after being at the house the dog started whimpering a lot, so Slone set out again to find the owner in the surrounding neighborhoods. Turns out, he belonged to someone in the subdivision across the street from us. It was fun while it lasted but we do hope to have our own dog this summer! :)
